While fans watch the movie playing with comics continuity lots, the developers of the official X-men Origins: Wolverine movie video game have taken it upon themselves to get hold of the original material and come up with something great out of the catastrophe of a film. They’ve done a damn good job, too. The fruits of their labours are there for you all to try out for yourself in the new Wolverine video game on the Playstation 3, Xbox and Nintendo Wii.

A Wolverine video game has never quite really managed to capture those unique characteristics that countless comics universe enthusiasts have adored for decades. However, the new X-men Origins: Wolverine video game does seem to hit the mark, which is none too shabby seeing as the Wolverine movie itself appears to have been a massive creative disaster. This could be a very rare happening indeed- a licensed video game that is actually much better than the product it is based upon.

One of the first things you may take note of is the intense combat system that the game offers. It does capture some of the gut-churning action that being the Wolverine character would allow you. His healing factor adds another welcome element to events too, and it is great to see a mainstay of his comic book and movie version done so well by the Wolverine video game writers. Logan’s abilities in this particular Wolverine video game constantly heal as you receive damage, but you’ll have to hide and recuperate if your life energy gets too low.

With increasingly powerful enemies to battle throughout the game, it becomes a more and more challenging experience the more you play the game. With awesome graphics and audio, it does fling you into the thick of battle, and with so many X-Men comic characters appearing throughout this Wolverine video game, there is a great deal to keep Wolverine fans thrilled. Another nice feature of the game-play is the ability to focus on certain aspects of Wolverine’s sharpened senses by using the control pad, letting you spot prey, entrances and more that you may otherwise miss.

As an overall gaming experience, the X-Men Origins: Wolverine video game is a resounding success, giving you all the thrills of the Wolverine film with added cool stuff that the film lacks. With clear, beautiful graphics and thumping sound design, the game really gets you into the character and his berserker rage, and is a exciting addition to the roster of Marvel Comics games. The new Wolverine video game is better than the movie, Bub.
