blu-ray disc and HD-DVD are high definition DVD’s that can can be played by either a blu-ray DVD player or an HD-DVD player.
As answered previously, the blu-ray has greater storage capacity buy both types can produce the new high definition image and thus, being able to give a nice picture on an HDTV preferably a 1080p resolution
A lot of movies are released in both formats but some movies only in one type therefore the consumer is left with a difficult decision as to what type of HD player to buy.
technically the blu-ray is better because of higher capacity but the HD-DVD are cheaper. However companies like LG have released a universal HD player that can play both blu-ray and HD-DVD.
I would buy one of those later when they get cheaper because that one is about $1200.
