I think that a player that outputs 7.1 format (which includes the PS3) will actually output 6.1 soundtracks as 7.1 (two channels would be identical). You will also need a home theater system that can decode 7.1 audio from it’s HDMI input (some receivers will only pass HDMI audio, not process it). Optical inputs (TOSLINK) can only support lossily compressed 5.1 surround, not 6.1 or 7.1.

Most Blu-ray discs are actually encoded to 7.1 instead of 6.1, but you can filter this list to show 6.1 discs if you want: http://www.blu-raystats.com/Stats/Stats.php .
