I have pretty much made up my mind though a few opinions don’t hurt. I have owned and Xbox 360 for about 3 years now. I enjoy the system but I really want a blue ray player.
From what I have seen the PS3 seems to be about 10% better in graphics which is also important to me.
I chose the Xbox cause it was 0 compared to the 0 PS3. Back then the Blue Ray Vs. HD-DVD war was going on therfore I didn’t know if the blueray player was worth it.
Now a friend wants to buy my 360 for 0 which my out of pocket expense for the PS3 will only be about 175 with taxes. Plus I now have a brand new system and the blue ray player I want.
Is this a smart choice?

Well, it doesn’t sound bad for what you want at all, no. I own both, so I can’t judge because I have the best of both worlds, and have an HD DVD Player add on for the 360, so finding value priced HD DVDs is always fun. As for the better graphics on the PS3, I’m not sure about that. Alot of things I’ve read say that the 360 actually has better graphics… but in all honesty, like I said, I have both, and seriously, they both look awesome, so that one is a win win.
The only thing that would be holding me back is the fact that the PS3 has a cruddy game library in my opinion. The only game I’ve actually looking forward to that is a PS3 exclusive is God of War 3. XBox definitely wins in the exclusivity thing.
Once again, like I said, if you own an HD TV and want a Blu-Ray player, go for it. High Def Movies are definitely worth every penny!
