Playing Blu-ray Discs on a SD TV?
I don’t know much about TVs. High definition, plasma, flat screens. It is a bit confusing for me. All I know is that I have a standard definition TV and I can’t afford a new one.
I’m saving up for a PS3. It’ll take forever, I’m poor as hell, but I plan on getting one sometime. If you are unaware, for some reason, the PS3 doubles as a Blu-ray player… And that brings us to my question:
Will I gain anything by ditching DVDs and trading up for Blu-ray? I’ve heard Blu-ray discs are no better than DVDs on SD TVs, that it only matters on HD TVs. I figured I might as well ask, considering Blu-ray discs cost more.
Thanks in advance.

You are right, Blu-ray is ONLY an advantage on an HDTV. It will play Blu-rays on an SDTV, but only at 480 resolution. Note that a PS3 will play DVDs fine though .. so just don’t buy Blu-ray disks .. stick to DVD.
