The big problem with porn in hi-def is that it shows things that the actors would rather not have seen, like scars from where they got breast implants. Those close-ups can be brutal.
It’s highly doubtful that old titles will be re-released in hi-def, as they are what they are, and you can’t improve the picture quality beyond the master print. (Maybe–maybe–you might get some titles that were released on film in hi-def, but that would require a good original, and a lot of those originals are deteriorating.) As for new movies, it likely will start with American films before foreign films are available, simply because of the expense of getting hi-def cameras.
BTW, there used to be porn films in Beta long after commercial releases were no longer available in Beta. So, it’s not a Sony thing.
