Is it possible to record video games(in HD) using an HD DVD recorder?

I want to record m xbox in HD with my DVD recorder in HD without having to pay 9 for a hd capture card….since this DVD player was over 0.
I asked this question in the appropriate sections but I could get answer or a good answer.

This section is popular so I am sure someone can help me out.
