Is it a good idea to import Sweeney Todd (on Blu-Ray) from the UK or should I just wait?
I don’t know if I’m the only one who’s getting impatient… I’m considering importing Sweeney Todd on Blu-Ray from the UK, but I don’t know if I should just harden my resolve and wait for it to come out here in the US. So far there is no news whatsoever of the release date in the US. What would you do?

Bluray is region coded like DVDs. A British release wouldn’t work on American players.
One option would be to purchase AnyDVD and rip the British Bluray onto a computer that is attached to your TV. AnyDVD will strip the region coding as it records onto your hard drive. You will also have to purchase a software Bluray player such as PowerDVD. Be aware that a Bluray file is almost 50 gigabytes!
Costs:
PC with the horsepower to play Bluray files: $1200
HDMI cable to TV from PC $69
PowerDVD $99
AnyDVD $79
Sweeney Todd including postage $50?
Sort of expensive. I loved Sweeney Todd. I have the original on DVD, the version staring Angela Lansbury. It’s excellent also. You could buy that while you’re waiting for the Depp version to come out on Bluray.
