Im going to get a HD tv to play xbox 360 games on, do i need the xbox 360 HD DVD player?

Do i have to get a HD dvd player if i just want to play games in HD?

What do i do???

  1. No no no. The HD DVD add-on player for the 360 was during the HD DVD vs BluRay wars. Now that BluRay has completely won the war, the HD DVD add-on is fairly useless. No one is making anymore HD DVD discs.

    Just for gaming, the 360 has a built-in DVD drive. You will put your games into that. All 360’s come with that. You don’t have to pay extra for it or buy it separately. It is there with every single model.

    The only advantage of the HD DVD add-on is that its an AMAZING up-scaler. So if you want to watch old SD DVDs on an HDTV, its cool to have HD DVD player. BluRay players have that built in, and then you can also watch BluRay movies (though BluRay up-scaling isn’t quite as good as HD DVD). But still absolutely nothing to do with games.
