How do you download firmware or software updates for a blu ray player? Specifically a ps3.?

I recently purchased American History X on blu ray and when i opened the box there was a little note inside. It said i need to download a firmware or software update to ensure the best possible veiwing experience. Not only do i not know what firmware or software is, but i don’t know how to download the update. PLEASE HELP!!!

  1. If your PS3 is connected to the internet via either ethernet cable or WiFi it updates itself. If you’re not, you need to connect it and it will handle the update automatically.
