Do you need an HD TV to play an HD DVD?
I have an HD DVD player, but the HD DVDs won’t play on it. Do I need an HD TV as well? Or is there something else, like a special cord, that I can get?

No, you don’t need an HDTV to play HD DVDs.
The composite (red/white/yellow) output of the HD DVD player is always down converted to the old analog type signal.
So you should be able to watch the HD DVD using that connection.
