Do you have to have an HD television set to watch HD with the new HD DVD players?

I was wanting to know if I could watch HD DVDs with the new HD players on a standard television and still get HD resolution.

  1. No, you cant. HD resolution is in 1080i or 720p. A standard definition tv cannot produce a picture of that resolution. Your picture would be in standard definition no matter what with a standard definition tv.
