Can you fit a whole season of a TV show on one blu-ray disc?

I was just wondering if it were possible to fit a whole season of a TV show on blu-ray. I heard that they hold 80 gigs of space so i was wondering why TV shows are still like four or five discs. Shouldn’t they be able to condense it down to one.

  1. Actually, it is more like 50, with a dual layer.

    And since a Blu-Ray player supports MPEG4 compression schemes, one could fit about one season in SD on one BD-DVD easy.
