You need to check what sort of AV inputs your TV has and you would need to make sure any blu-ray you purchased had corresponding outputs. For example, my Sony has HDMI, component, and even S-video outputs. So if I had a standard def TV with S-video input, I could hook it up and it should work. The picture would obviously suffer though. Possibly.
