Can you connect a Blu-ray player to a non-HD television and play both regular DVDs and Blu-ray discs with it?
With DVDs and DVD players slowly phasing out, one will need to eventually purchase a Blu-ray player. However, does this require the purchase of a compatible television? In other words, if I purchased a Blu-ray player and hooked it up to my non-HD television, could it still play DVDs and Blu-ray discs (obviously without the HD)?

Possibly.
You need to check what sort of AV inputs your TV has and you would need to make sure any blu-ray you purchased had corresponding outputs. For example, my Sony has HDMI, component, and even S-video outputs. So if I had a standard def TV with S-video input, I could hook it up and it should work. The picture would obviously suffer though.
