Can you buy a Sony Playstation 3 console in the US and use it in Malaysia?

I’m studying in the US and is planning to get the console. However during my holidays I would like to bring it back home to share it with my younger siblings. Anyone knows if there is a regional lock for the systems in US? or any incompatibility?

    That should give you everything you need to know. Basically, TV type and power wattage are the two major things you have to worry about. I don’t remember if Malaysia uses PAL or NTSC, but if they use NTSC over there, that plays in your favor since that is what the US uses.
