Skinning is one of the best gathering professions in Warcraft and lets you skin what you and even others have killed. Usually you’ll be able to find a skinning trainer near a leatherworker. Remember that not every corpse can be skinned. To find out if something can be skinned just hover over the corpse. It’s important to fully loot a corpse before you begin skinning it. As far as skinning things that have been killed by others, just make sure they’ve left the corpse before you jump in to skin it.

The color will reveal not only whether your skill level is high enough to skin it but also whether or not it will help you level up even more. The following list reveal what these various color codes actually tell you.
