WoW Herbalism – The Power of Nature
Herbalism is one of the more popular gathering professions in the World of Warcraft. If you just started leveling your char, leveling Herbalism along the way will bring no problems. Same goes for level 80’s simply because this profession is very easy to level and it can be done within a couple of hours.
What are main features of Herbalism?
Herbalism involves gathering different kinds of herbs all around the map. What can you actually do with this profession and the herbs you have gathered? Herbs can be sold in stacks as a raw material on the Auction House. Still, combining Herbalism with appropriate crafting profession such as Alchemy or Inscription will enable you to make a profitable source of income.
Alchemy will allow you to make powerful potions, flasks and elixirs out of gathered herbs. These are used to enhance your character’s performance in game, especially in instances and raids.
Wrath of the Lich King expansion introduced the new profession – Inscription. A Scribe is able to make different kinds of glyphs that are also used to enhance some important characteristics and abilities of any class. How the herbs can be found?
Very simple. Herbs are present in abundance in almost every zone on the map. However, not all areas are rich in herbs and there are some that are considered to be a herb paradise. Tracking ability “Find Herbs”, when turned on, will help you see herbs displayed on a minimap, displayed as yellow dots. If you would like to have a record of the herbs you have already picked up then try using an addon such as The Gatherer. The Gatherer keeps record of the herb locations discovered by you or any party or guild member who has this addon installed.
Benefits of Herbalism
With Herbalism you will get an ability called Lifeblood. This ability is instant, costs no mana and it can heal you about 3600 over 5 seconds. However, this ability has a three minute cooldown. While leveling, this ability can come in handy especially for classes without any healing abilities.
Another benefit is that you will be saving a considerable amount of gold when it comes to flasks, pots and elixirs. Considering that they are necessary consumables in any raid, you will be able to create the ones for your own need and also to profit by selling them on the Auction House. Choosing Herbalism according to your class
Are there some classes which are better suitable for herbalism than the others? The answer to this question is, no. Choosing Herbalism as a profession is solely your choice, however, keep in mind that some classes need it more than other classes. For example, most of the Herbalists are usually healers or tanks since those two specs always need a lot of potions and flasks. Druids have a slight advantage in herb gathering because of their instant flying form which allows gathering while staying in it. This makes herb farming for Druids considerably faster.
Other useful items
Any beginner Herbalist will think that his bags are good enough for herb gathering. Just wait and see! They will soon realize that they are short with space in their bags. To solve this problem there are special bags for Herbalists that Tailors can make. These bags can carry only herbs, but they are offering additional bag slots than normal bags do.
