Priest – Light and Shadow

Priests are known to be very capable healers in WoW. Priests however, can also deal nice amounts of damage as well. If you choose to play this class you will have a choice between different races. If you role horde the choice of races when it comes to the Priest class will fall on Trolls, Undead and Blood Elves. If you want to make a Priest and be part of the Alliance you can choose between a Draenei, Dwarf, Humand and Night Elf priest. Depending on the race you choose you will have different passive abilities but the choice will surely depend on you and your game play.

Priests are spell casters and whether they are healers damage dealers that need mana in order to cast these spells they will need a good amount of spirit which will make their mana recover a lot faster, intellect which provides the priest with more mana and spell power which makes their spells more efficient. As each other class the priest has three talent trees available to him and these are Discipline, Holy and Shadow. Click here to watch the video: WoW Priest Guide

The Holy tree is perfect for a typical healer. When you choose to be a Holy Priest you can almost forget about dealing damage but you will however become an awesome healer for single and multiple targets with several spells like Circle of Healing. Guardian Spirit, Prayer of Healing, Flash and Greater heals, Renew and more. Shadow Priests are famous for their Shadow form which not only looks interesting it also gives a Shadow Priest more spell power.

Shadow Priests have several damage over time spells like Devouring Plague and Shadow Word Pain which are very effective. They are also greatly valued in raids and groups not only because they can be good damage dealers but also because of their ability to heal and give mana back to the party members. Priests who are more into the PvP game play will definitely choose the Discipline tree. Combined with healing and protective spells and gear with more resilience they will surely be unbeatable in the battlegrounds or in arenas.

Besides a nice amount of healing and damaging spells the priests also have some great buffs like Spirit buff, Stamina buff and Shadow Protection buffs. Next to this they also have many other useful spells like fear, resurrect, shackle, dispel, cure disease and more. Threat plays an important role in WoW and luckily the Priests can fade when they get a bit too much agro to reduce their threat. When it comes to the armor, Priests are purely cloth wearers which means that their armor is solely made from cloth. Priests have a lot of mana and do not have a lot of hitpoints because they are not meant to take a lot of hits. If you want to become a Shadow priest you will have to focus on specific equipment. You will want to get a lot spell power, hit and crit rating, intellect and spirit on your gear.

Healing priests should aim for the same stats but they can leave out the hit rating and take haste rating instead. One downside of a priest is leveling it because it takes quite a bit of time, even if you decide to level it as a Shadow priest. As you hit level 40 and get Shadow Form it will be a lot easier though and once you hit the level cap you can count on many dungeon and raid spots as either a healer or damage dealer.
