Druids – WoW’s Famous Hybrid Class

The most popular hybrid class in the World of Warcraft definitely is the Druid class. Many WoW players will tell you that the Druid class is one of the most fun classes to play. If you choose the Alliance side, you can become a Druid by choosing the Night Elf race, while if you are playing on the Horde side you can become a Druid by choosing the Tauren race.

Druids have many interesting abilities but the most fun one is definitely the ability to shapeshift. Druids have a lot of forms they can shapeshift into like Bear, Cat, Sea Lion and Travel form. With the Burning Crusade expansion flying skill was introduced to all the WoW players. With level 70, all classes were able to get a flying mount. A fun thing when it comes to this ability was that a Druid flight form is an instant cast same as any other form they had which made them even more movable.

When it comes to specialization a Druid has three talent trees to choose from – Balance, Restoration or Feral Combat and by placing his talent points into one of these threes he can become a healer, damage dealer in the form of a caster or a melee dps and a tank. With the Balance talent build, a Druid will be able to shapeshift into another very fun form – the Moonkin which will allow him to become a typical caster damage dealer.

Druid’s moonkin form will afflict the whole raid and all other players will have an amazing benefit with +5% on critical strike rating. A Moonkin, or as popularly called “Boomkin” is a typical mana user.

However, to become a really good dps, a Moonkin needs to learn how to rotate his spells together with a few DoT (Damage Over Time) spells he has. A Moonkin is not only limited to single target damage spells and he can also deal a lot of AoE damage with spells like Hurricane, Starfall and Typhoon. Moonkins need to have good gear with as much spell power as possible and a lot of haste, crit and hit rating. Feral Druids can choose between a tank spec or a melee dps spec.

When he shapeshifts into the bear form, a Druid will have a lot of stamina and armor and can tank as good as any other tanking class, and if he wants to dps in melee he can always shapeshift into the cat form. With the Restoration talents, a Druid can obtain another form very useful for healing -the tree form. When shapeshifted into a tree a Druid will grant 6% extra healing done to all the targets in his group/raid and his spells will consume less mana. Healing Druids are famous for their HoTs – Healing over Time spells and are favored in raids. In order to be on the top of the healing meter, a Resto Druid needs to have healing adequate gear with a lot of spirit and sp (spell power). His gear needs to have a lot of spirit and spell power and therefore healing druids are known for their ability to regenerate mana very fast.

A Druid’s armor should preferably be from leather but they can also wear cloth. If your choice falls on the tanking or melee dps spec it is suggested that you only wear leather since you will have much better stats. Cloth can be of use to healing druids and Moonkins since they usually don’t take any close damage unlike Druid tanks and melee. A Druid tank needs to wear armor which has a lot of Stamina so he can be deal with the hard hits while tanking.

Playing a druid is really fun both in PvE and PvP and basically you can’t get bored since you can change your build and game play anytime you please. Leveling will also be fairly easy for a Druid and the best spec to choose for fast leveling will definitely be Feral Combat. With a Druid you will be able to shape shift, run faster, swim faster, dive without the need to have an underwater breathing potion, etc. and all this is done instantly!.
