Are HD DVD’s and Blu Ray DVD’s really worth it? Are they THAT much better than regular DVD’s? ?

I own a huge collection of DVD’s, and none of them are Blu Ray or HD. I’m just wondering if I should feel the desire to swap all my regular DVD’s for Blu Ray/HD ones, or if the hype isn’t justified. Is Blu Ray and HD THAT much better? My family just bought a new widescreen TV that’s pretty darn big, so I know I’d probably see at least a slight difference quality-wise between my regular DVDs and a HD/Blu Ray one, but what do you think? In the end, is it that great?

I don’t need my movies to be ZOMG CRYSTAL CLEAR111. I mean, I want good quality, but sometimes this HD stuff seems a bit ridiculous. At some point the human eye isn’t going to be able to see the difference, y’know? XD

I bought a Blu-Ray player for my new LCD TV. It upconverts DVD’s to near 1080 quality. I have over 200 DVD’s in my collection. I have rented a couple of Blu-Ray movies to test the waters.

I noticed VERY little difference. My player did such a good job of upconverting the video, that I find it a waste of money to spend $20 or more for blu-ray movies.

I will keep buying cheap DVD’s until the price of Blu-Ray movies comes WAY down, I mean to under $10. Save yourself money and just buy a good upconverting DVD player for now, and hold on to your DVD collection. It is NOT an amazing difference in picture quality to justify the cost of Blu-Ray
