Hi Guys,
Ive just got a LG 32lg6000 HD TV and rather worryingly i cant really tell much difference when watching blu-ray on the PS3 between 576p and 1080p (scales down to 720p)!
To me it looks almost the same and it really shouldnt, should it? Btw the ‘test’ dvd is casino royale.
Is there anyway to check mid dvd/mid game the current resolution, or is there any way to take a screenshot on the Ps3 (not on an external camera, just a built in picture shot on the ps3)
Many thanks guys,
-Ben

Maybe your TV’s user interface lets you check the current resolution of the video input?
I don’t own a PS3, but I borrowed one from my buddy last summer. I don’t have an LCD TV either, (yet) but I had the PS3 hooked up to my 24" 1920×1200 computer screen. I noticed the difference immediately whenever the console switched between 1080p and 720p mode. (Games typically run at 720p even on a 1080p TV)
Likewise I notice a big difference between DVDs and BDs when watching movies on the computer (I have a BD-ROM player)
If you sit too far away from the screen you won’t get the benefit of the higher resolution, simply because the human eye isn’t sharp enough. Use the Viewing distance calculator to fint the optimal distance for your TV. http://myhometheater.homestead.com/viewingdistancecalculator.html
