Frankly speaking, for me the difference btw XBL and PSN isn’t much… Not worth 50$ IMO…. The only thing lacking on PSN is cross party chat which might be added in an update. I actually prefer gaming on PSN since the community is much more mature.. You hardly find kids trolling around and passing racist comments like on XBL (I have Halo on my 360 and there are soooo many stupid retard kids there… I mute everyone when I play). Also, M$ doesn’t set dedicated servers which SUCKS!!!! Tell me truthfully while playing Gears 2 online, the game has lagged or not. I have a pretty fast connection and it still lags most times and the match making takes forever (it’s improved now but still)… Trust me, I have played Killzone 2 on PSN with 32 players and with jaw dropping graphics (which frankly blow away any 360 game) and still doesn’t lag…Sony sets dedicated servers for their games which is awesome.
XBL is better I admit, but not worth 50$ annually. PSN is getting better with every update
Secondly, that games part is subjective… I respect your opinion. I personally look for variety cause I am tired of shooters frankly. Hence, I get games like God Of War 3, Little Big Planet, Heavy Rain, Uncharted 1/2…. If you look out for shooters, then PS3 has Killzone 2(which I rate head and shoulder above Halo…. It’s tougher, but really great), Resistance 2, MAG (will support 256 players online)… I admit, Gears is awesome, but I would any day that for Uncharted 2/MGS4…
The 360 is a great machine, but the only problem is the fact that it’s reliability is really an issue… I have 3 meltdowns and the 4th one isn’t showing better signs…
The PS3 on the other hand is a better package overall.. Blu-Ray is the next DVD, you have to adopt it now or in the near future… Sony first party games are awesome… Each game weighs in more than 30GB (40GB-KZ2, 40GB-MGS4)
If I had 299$ now, I would invest it on a PS3 (Slim or old) rather than a 360. 360′s prices will fall down next year and you can buy one then (You can keep the hard drive of current one and then buy an Arcade).
