I’m Looking into a Blu-Ray player, and I’m wondering if the PS3 would be a good choice for one. I’m also into video games, and I already own a Wii and a 360. However, I know many other Blu-Ray players are less than the 0 price the PS3 has. Any tips/recommendations?

Since Blu-Ray is a relatively new technology, get a player that is able to get firmware updates in case there are changes to the media. The PS3 is an excellent choice there.
A perfect example of this: Remember older DVD players cannot play CDs or burned disks, aren’t compatible with MP3s, JPGs, or even AVIs. Some even had a hard time recognizing dual-layer discs. If they were able to upgrade the firmware in the player, they might still be useful today.
PS3 is so much more than just a gaming console, also. You can stream music, movies, and pictures from your PC, stream TV and movies from the internet, have access to all the NetFlix instant movies to your main entertainment system. It is also an upscaling DVD player, web browser, WiFi connectivity built in…
PS3 is a great choice if it is in your budget.
I would highly recommend getting a PS3 Blu-Ray player, being able to play awesome games on it is a bonus!!! I have one and i love it. Just make sure you get a PS3 with at least 80 gigs or more, cuz the 40 gigs don’t allow you to play PS2 games. I’m sure you’ll be very happy with it. Make sure you get a HDMI cable too.
The PS3 works well as a bluray player, and as a media center. It looks just as good, if not better than a standalone bluray player, due to the high performance graphics card in the PS3.
Yes. PS3 is one of the best and cheapest blu ray players on the market.
Without a doubt the PS3. With the new slim version with the bigger HD, and it’s price drop, it’s a great time to buy one. Not only do you get a great Blu-ray player but an awesome gaming system that’s, IMO, better than the 360. I just got one myself and I love it. Not to mention a media server is so much easier to set up on a PS3. That will allow you to steam movies, and music from any PC or Mac on your home network right to your PS3. And now if you have Net Flix you can stream, in full HD, right to your PS3.
So in short, you’re not just getting a Blu-Ray player, but full blown entertainment machine.
