Panasonic is widely regarded as the best for the money however coming from a custom installation perspective Sony is much better. Especially when you want to control it with a universal remote. The playstation 3 is great but awful with dual zone applications. It can’t output both analog and digital audio at the same time making it useless with dual zone receivers. Also being controlled with Bluetooth it is also a pain to use with universal remotes.
The best blu ray player on the market is the denon 3800 .. has the hollywood status chip built into it so you regular dvd that are upscaled looks just like you blu ray movies… but the price point on that is 3000 with out spending that much the nxt best would be the pioneer elite 05 model then the panasonic bd55

SONY. And in my opinion the Playstation 3 is the best blu-ray player out.

For general consumer use I’d say the PS3 is the best. For those not interested in gaming the Panasonic DMP-BD35 is the best stand-alone player.
