The Panasonic DMP-BD35 is the least expensive Blu-Ray player with all the key features (i.e. decoding all HD audio formats). It also won cnet's Editor's Choice award. So if your husband has or will have a surround sound system, then get the Panasonic. He'll be proud of you.

The Sony 350 and the Samsung 1500 are fine players too, but they don't decode all the HD audio. So if you don't have surround sound and plan on NEVER having surround sound then get any of the three. Otherwise, go with the Panasonic. All three are about the same price.

There are other features, like the Netflix streaming option, that are available on some more expensive models, but in my opinion they're not worth it.

Well, go with Sony too. It's a good choice. But my very reason why I answered you is to correct you. It's so inappropriate to say 'Blu-ray dvd' player. Bluray and DVD are different formats. Some people would say 'where can I buy a bluray dvd of (title)'. It's not right. Anyway, you should get a new bluray player and match it up with a 50" or larger hdtv. It's a perfect gift for us men and we will love you more women! Oh yeah, boys will be boys. So give us some toys.

Happy Holidays!
