It is Blu-ray Profile 1.1 compliant and Sony has stated that it will be upgradeable to Blu-ray Profile 2.0. Cnet.com rates it as the best buy amongst blu-ray players. I have a PS3 hooked up to my HT via HDMI and the movies and sound are amazing! Now the games (if you like that sort of thing) when played on a HT setup are also amazing. Only downside is that the remote is Bluetooth and as such you cannot program today's universal remotes to control the PS3. Maybe one day :) The PS3 excellent image quality, has very fast load times – some players take an age to load a blu-ray movie to get it ready to play. It will update to all new versions without a problem, unlike other players. It always plays [awesome] games (duh) and has excellent blu-ray playback for a good price. Rumors are that the price will go down to $299 by the end of this year. PS3 is the way to go. It will update to all new versions without a problem, unlike other players. The PS3 can update to new frimware when needed. Works fine as a gaming platform and also upconverts Dvd's. Price isnt to bad compared to a standalone blueray player. I second that.
