I honestly don’t know what the best blu-ray player is, I own a $100 magnavox player and it suits me just fine, it doesn’t have BD-Live (no internet connectivity) but the BD-Live is only if your a freak for extras on movies. Me I just enjoy watching a good flick. Also being connected to BD-Live also means your loading times will be longer. the only thing I kinda feel skimped out on is not having Netflix on my Blu-ray player but thats what my Xbox 360 is for
You can definitely get something for 250-300 that will work just fine or look for sales on something else. Totally up to you honestly
PlayStation 3 too
HDMI + Bravia Sync functionality that provides both 1080p output resolution, and instant in-synch connectivity between your PS3 and other Sony HDMI enabled products without the use of multiple remote controls.
A new 33% slimmer, 36% lighter PlayStation 3 entertainment system that is also more energy efficient.
Includes a Dualshock 3 wireless controller and a built-in 120GB HDD for storing games, music, videos, and photos.
Built-in Wi-Fi for connectivity anywhere and multiple media format compatibility, including Blu-ray for crystal clear video on High-Definition TVs, CD-ROM, DVD, and others.
Free membership and access to all the events, as well as game, movie, TV and other media content available on the PlayStation Network (PSN).
For $199 get the new Sony BDP-S360. I have last years S350 & it has been great. I attached a link. Spending lots of money on a Blu-ray does not make it a good one. There are more expensive players out there, but they still play Blu-ray as well as the others. It’s important to look at the makers reputation for staying on top of the latest firmware & changing as fast as the market demands it. A Playstation w/ built in Blu-ray is not the best. Read many questions here & you’ll see people have lots of issues with those things. G’luck!
Depends on what you want really. I would have said PS3, hands down, like most others here. It was not for me (as in, my requirements).
PS3 is awesome. It plays great range of formats, looks great (slim version), had DLNA, it is also a gaming console (should it be the other way around? Doesnt matter ).
When I was shopping for BR, I was almost sure that I was going to buy one. But the thing that kept me back was that I am no gamer and I didnt know shelling out that much for a game console was worth it. The second thing that its remote. It has a great bluetooth remote, but come on Sony, why cant you put in a regular IR receiver? I cannot use my activity based remote with PS3. That will be one extra remote.
When I saw Samsung on sale, I grabbed it. It did most of what PS3 did (the Bluray part) and it played Netflix, Blockbuster, Pandora and Youtube. It was a good bang for buck. I didnt shell out the extra $130 for PS3.
PS:
With a 750$ tag, you should be able to get good players. Check Oppo products. They are good Bluray players.
The Panasonic is the best player in the market model 60. The Pioneer Elite is a very good unit but more money. I use a Pioneer Blu-ray player and have no complain, it has the same finish as the Elite model at a lower cost. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on blu-ray disc player. July issue tested the Panasonic, Samsung and Sony blu-ray disc player and the Panasonic was the top choice. Hope this will help you out.
I would strongly suggest the highly-rated Oppo BDP-83 at $499. The player is incredibly fast, high-quality, and is better than the PS3 at playing back all your existing DVDs. It will look like a regular player, work with your IR remote controller, and outperform players that cost $1000-3000. (Really, it does.) It has myriad more controls and adjustments, analog connections for older receivers, and a high-end deinterlacer to make all those plain old DVDs look amazing. Oh yeah, I also plays high definition audio SACD and DVD-Audio discs.
As if that wasn’t enough, with a little work it is also possible to make the Oppo BDP-83 region free for DVDs and BRs.. so you can play movies from around the world.
currently the best blu-ray player is the PS3.
ps3. hands down.
ps3 is for ppl that play games too
