Best way to get audio from TV/Blu Ray to home theater system?

My tv has left and right audio outs, don’t think that’s good. Has coaxial out, don’t know anything about that. The blu ray player and the satellite box have optical out, which I don’t know much about. The home theater has optical in, right and left in, and coaxial in. Which is best for a home theater system that has 6 speakers and a subwoofer?

Since you get video out of a sat box, you don’t care about the TV out. It is useful only when you use a tuner.
(Coax out is digital audio out)

So, connect set-top and BD player optical out to the home theater system optical and you are all set!
On the set-top and BD set the audio out to be Raw or bitstream (NOT PCM) so you can get 5.1 sound via Dolby or DTS.

You are stuck on the TV out side, try the coaxe with RG6, for the others the optical will give better results unless you have 5 plug component available or HDMI .

If you have HDMI, use that, otherwise use the optical audio out. quality levels go from least to highest . . . RCA connector stereo, Coaxial (rca plug), Fiber optic or HDMI are about the same depending on cable quality.

Connect optical or coaxial digital cable from Blu-ray player and satellite box to Home Theater system for surround sound.

Although HDMI supports video and audio (depending of course on the quality of the cable, I use Monster) I use HDMI (high definition media interface) for video only and Optical for audio. You are gonna thank me for this advice, for sure.
